About This Campaign

Nolan for New York is a Mayoral Campaign centered around Francie Nolan, the protagonist of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, published in 1943 by Betty Smith.

Francie Nolan is without a doubt a very interesting character. Throughout the course of the book, she endures many trials and hardships, experiencing the highs and lows of life and growing from a lonely child to an inspiring young woman.

I knew that I would have no trouble forming a political campaign around her character due to the inherently political and brutally honest themes of the book, and because Francie herself holds all qualities that would make a strong and honest politician who would truly have the best interest of the people at heart.

Nolan for New York is not only inspired by Francie herself but by the city she lives in. It played a large role in the making of her campaign, one centered around the excitement and diversity, the rich history and beauty of New York City.

“New York! I've always wanted to see it and now I've seen it. It's true what they say – it's the most wonderful city in the world.”
